Known Issue - WebMediaPlayer limit introduced in Chrome 92

Jon Vandermey

Issue
A WebMediaPlayer limit has been introduced in Chrome version 92. This issue blocks the creation of further WebMediaPlayers once there are already 75 (desktop) or 40 (mobile) players in a single frame. This limit includes closed/failed connections, not just simultaneous connections.

Once the WebMediaPlayer limit is reached in a session new connections will not render audio or video and an error is logged in the console.

You can find the bug reported in detail here: https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=1232649

Resolution
The WebMediaPlayer limitation is being raised, the new limit will be 1000 for all platforms. https://chromium.googlesource.com/chromium/src/+/f7489718ee87fbef92c59d35d9437cf55466fa2 This should take effect in Stable Refresh 1 for Chrome 92, scheduled to be released on August 3rd.
